Vertdesk V3 Standing Desk Review

Standing desks have become wildly popular for gamers and workers who crave physical relief and higher productivity. One recent study shows that intermittent standing increases productivity by cutting in half the number of breaks users take during the workday. But shopping for height-adjustable desks in a crowded field of options can leave a buyer dazed and confused.

To help gamers and workers navigate the maze and get the most for their money, we’ve prepared side-by-size comparisons between the MojoDesk Solo and other leading brands in the market. Today we’ve compared MojoDesk against the VertDesk v3, looking at issues like comfort, environmental sustainability, and price. Here's what we found:

 Ergonomic Guidelines Sit Stand Desk

The most comfortable sit-stand desks have a broad range of adjustability to accommodate a wide variety of body shapes and sizes. MojoDesk spans from 24" to 49.8” to accommodate users ranging in height from 4’11” to 6’6”. The VertDesk v3, on the other hand, has just a 20-inch range of adjustability. If you’re under 5’6” or over 6’5” VertDesk v3 is not the desk for you, and here’s why:

An ill-fitting desk can cause both discomfort and loss of productivity. If your desk is too high, your shoulder blades will rise, wreaking havoc on your neck, shoulder and upper back. Work at a desk that’s too low, and you’ll compensate by holding your arms out to reach the keyboard, causing pain and posture issues.

VertDesk is brutally honest about their narrow height range, stating, “the VertDesk v3 does not have the largest range of motion or advertise a weight capacity exceeding 300 pounds.” (Apparently, the designers of Vertdesk v3 had to limit the range because of stability issues.)

Forearms and wrists should rest at the correct ergonomic position while typing, which is why the MojoDesk design features angled front edges. Wrist position is important because gamers and workers alike engage in notoriously long keyboard sessions, and injuries to hand bones and tendons account for more than 21 percent of all reported workplace hand injuries. The VertDesk v3 has squared-off desk edges, and that increases the bend in your wrist during repetitive and prolonged motion.

Beveled Edge Standing Desk

The whole point of a sit-to-stand desk is to work comfortably and avoid injury, right? MojoDesk was founded to design desks that meet the most rigorous ergonomic standards. MojoDesk is certified by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the Human Factors for Ergonomics Society (HFES), which consider factors of:

  • knee clearance
  • viewing angles
  • reach zones
  • focal depth
  • keyboard surface height

There is no mention of ergonomic testing nor stands on the VertDesk v3 site.

Greenguard certification is a designation of sustainability that measures the VOCs (volatile organic compounds) emitted by office and gaming furniture. MojoDesk goes the distance when it comes to sustainability, with full top-to-bottom Greenguard certification. Vertdesk v3 claims it emits “no VOCs" from its LEED and CARB certified work surfaces; they make no mention of the environmental sustainability of the rest of the desk.

Our bodies were made to move in a curve, not a hard angle. It’s with this belief that MojoDesk features a unique curved shape to give you the most desk space and minimize unnecessary reaching, similar to the way a cockpit fits a pilot. MojoDesk comes in three distinct shapes to fit the size and shape of the workspace including an L - Shaped corner desk with curved sides. The VertDesk v3 desktop comes in a rectangular shape only.

The MojoDesk 48x30 cubicle rectangle starts at $499 vs. the VertDesk v3 price of $643.99

And last but not least, the parent company of VertDesk does not actually manufacture the VertDesk itself, instead working with a U.S.-based OEM manufacturer. All MojoDesk standing desks are made and shipped from its company headquarters in Denver, Colorado.
